Groundwater quality in awe and environs, middle benue trough, nigeria

Groundwater quality is an important thing to be determined; because it commonly used as a source of clean water for domestic, agricultural and industry purposes. Fifty three groundwater samples (seventeen from wells, five springs thirty one boreholes) were sampled this research work. Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrophotometer (ICP-MS) was analyze the major cations while titration SO4 HCO3. Cl analyzed using Ion Chromatographic Method (IC). From results obtained, Total dissolved solids (TDS), Electrical conductivity (EC), Strontium (Sr) classified in study area into fresh, brackish saline water. The concentrations ions all fresh some met World Health Organization (WHO) Standard drinking are above WHO permissible values This indicates that not good agriculture industrial uses. Four types obtained based on Hardness (TH) as: 75 mg/l soft; 75–150 moderately hard; 150–300 >300 very hard. Both extreme degrees soft (<75 mg/l) hard (>300 considered undesirable features About 90% suitable livestock irrigation purposes but only about 51% can by industries without being treated.
